Death?

“If man ceases to exist when he disappears in the grave, you must be compelled to affirm that he is the only creature in existence whom nature or providence has condescended to deceive and cheat by capacities for which there are no available objects.”   — BULWER-LYTTON: Strange Story

“Amazing is the extent of man’s transformation at the moment when he leaves the earthly sphere. People call this death, but it is really birth; therefore, how pitiful it is when the subtle body sojourns long in sleep. Especially noteworthy is the transition wherein consciousness is preserved. Then it can be clearly imagined how the earthly tatters fall off and the imperishable accumulation emerges, revealing itself to be a true treasure. It can be understood why this most subtle treasure cannot be revealed amid crude conditions.” AUM 153/Agni Yoga

“The Fear of Death is based upon:
a. A terror of the final rending processes in the act of death itself.
b. Horror of the unknown and the indefinable.
c. Doubt as to final immortality.
d. Unhappiness at leaving loved ones behind or of being left behind.
e. Ancient reactions to past violent deaths, lying deep in the subconsciousness.
f. Clinging to form life, because primarily identified with it in consciousness.
g. Old erroneous teaching as to Heaven and Hell, both equally unpleasant in prospect to certain types.” Ponder, by Alice Bailey

“People believe they can attain perfection by many methods. This multiplicity of mirages lulls the mediocre mind. But one really has only two ways to live: either wisely and ardently to seek the realization of Aum, or to lie in a coffin like a log — self-centered and impoverished in spirit — assuming that one’s destiny will be taken care of by something or someone else.
It would seem, then, that a true striving toward realization of supreme possibilities should fill the greater part of human life as a most essential and engrossing occupation. But in reality the light of knowledge has been replaced by the conventional dogma of religion; and man, meant to be a thinker, worships his dark corner of idols, hanging amulets upon himself without even understanding the meaning of their symbols. Repeat this to all those who sleep in the darkness of the ordinary.
There exist no half-measures; there is either striving or the paralyzing cold of death. Moreover, striving is replete with the joy of cosmic realization, whereas the stiffening of death is filled with terror.” AY 158

“We do not abandon Our brothers-in-labor on Earth. We measure their true opportunities for success against the earthly evidence. A sower can always change fields without forfeiting his usefulness. So also can Our brothers change their field of labor when they know that Near Ones vigilantly watch their creative work and striving of spirit.
We are often asked about the death of Upâsikâ. Was it really impossible for Us to postpone her departure until the completion of the books? Thus ask the nearsighted ones, who cannot embrace the supermundane conditions. It would have been cruel of Us to bind Upâsikâ by exacting a vow that she remain in her unhappy circumstances. On the contrary, We searched for the right combination of conditions, so as not to impede the progress of that spirit. It should be known that if that best combination had been missed, Upâsikâ would have once again been subject to attacks. Also, the opportunity for the right incarnation for her — in time and in place — would have been lost.
With true cooperation, each brother must know that the best possibilities have been chosen for him. This knowledge will be his sustenance through all difficulties. It is the pledge of the Community.
Can the individual himself know when he has begun or completed something? In the physical body it is impossible to know all about oneself. Many lives forge one chain of consciousness, and one should leave it to the faithful Brothers to pronounce the hour when the Lotus will open. They can decide on the needed goal-fitness, and in this decision and in the depth of trust lies a mastery over karma.
Let us take an example from the animal world. When organisms sharing one kind of blood separate, the process always evokes a feeling of being incomplete. The litter of tiny, blind newborn creatures so unconsciously turns to the forces of nature that only compassion takes notice of them. But time passes, and they become a powerful pack. It is true that they fight with each other, but they unite to attack the enemy. A new force has been developed despite an insignificant beginning.
And let us take the example of a structure. For the construction of a new house the old building is demolished. Each stone, each beam removed from the old nest cries out against the injustice of such an act. But the demolition is completed, and a new energy is ignited. Kali the Destroyer has become Mother the Creator. Out of the fragments of the old, a new structure is built. New energy floods the space. With such simple examples one is reminded of the need for the regeneration of energy.
If We are told about a form that will exist unchanged for a millennium, We will first of all regret the unprogressing nature of the spiral of energy around such a structure. Great action will ever be Our joy. We call destruction creation if it contains a striving to the future. Conscious creation of a new current of energy leads to an understanding of cosmic currents. Therefore, ponder the need to manifest motion in thought as well as in action.
All have heard about the coming of the New Era. Can the new arrive in inaction? It is better to welcome a new blind puppy than an aged parrot that repeats old things. Examine the stream of the Teachings of life that have been given to humanity. Each, without affecting the preceding, opens new gates to knowledge. The enduring realities of life are fundamental to each given Teaching. Therefore they should be studied not for learning, but for application to life. Only in this way can you create the current of energy.” Agni Yoga #141-142

“Out of duty, perfectly performed, will emerge those larger duties which we call world work; out of the carrying of family responsibilities will come that strengthening of our shoulders which will enable us to carry those of the larger group.

Thus humanity serves, and in the development of a conscious aptitude for service, in the growth of a conscious understanding of the individual part to be played in the working out of the Plan, and in the rendering of the personality subject to the soul, will come the steady progress of humanity towards its goal of world service.

The Master looks not at a worker’s worldly force or status, not at the numbers of people who are gathered around his personality, but at the motives which prompt his activity and at the effect of his influence upon his fellowmen. True service is the spontaneous outflow of a loving heart and an intelligent mind; it is the result of being in the right place and staying there; it is produced by the inevitable inflow of spiritual force and not by strenuous physical plane activity; it is the effect of a man’s being what he truly is, a divine Son of God, and not by the studied effect of his words or deeds. A true server gathers around him those whom it is his duty to serve and aid by the force of his life and his spiritualised personality, and not by his claims or loud speaking. In self-forgetfulness he serves; in self-abnegation he walks the earth, and he gives no thought to the magnitude or the reverse of his accomplishment, and has no pre-conceived ideas as to his own value or usefulness. He lives, serves, works and influences, asking nothing for the separated self.

I urge upon each and all. . . the necessity for renewed effort to fit themselves for service by a conscious and deliberate effort to develop the intuition and to achieve illumination. Every human being who reaches the goal of light and wisdom, automatically has a field of influence which extends both up and down, and which reaches both inwards to the source of light, and outwards into the “fields of darkness”. When he has thus attained, he will become a conscious centre of life giving force, and will be so without effort. He will stimulate, energise, and vivify to fresh efforts all lives that he contacts, be they his fellow aspirants, or an animal, or a flower. He will act as a transmitter of light in the darkness. He will dispel the glamour around him, and let in the radiance of reality.

When large numbers of sons of men can so act, then the human family will enter upon its destined work of planetary service. Its mission is to act as a bridge between the world of spirit and the world of material forms. All grades of matter meet in man, and all the states of consciousness are possible to him. Mankind can work in all directions, and lift the subhuman kingdoms into heaven, and bring heaven down to earth.” Ponder, by A.Bailey

“. . . all emotions are the sprays that rise from human loves, and hopes, and fears; that perfect bliss cannot be ours till we have conquered these.”
Ch. 54:25 AG

~ OF WHAT ARE SOULS AFRAID? ~

“Of what are souls afraid? Fear is the chariot in which man
rides to death. And when he finds himself within the
chamber of the dead, he learns that he has been deceived;
his chariot was a myth, and death a fancy child.”

These pearls from the Aquarian Gospel
reiterates God’s Holy Word
in which arrangements in play are clearly outlined
and in the simplest way ever heard.

Set up for each lifetime, God chooses the path
on which each soul must take
Refinement imperative, lessons to learn,
the polishing for each souls sake.

Some learn very quickly, others drag on
over lifetimes, times and a half
But all will return to the perfection of Christ
and in the end sit around, talk, and laugh.

We’ll laugh at those times we each should have known
Looking back it will seem so elementary
Yet for now we must strive, work out our salvation . . .
and that not by being even slightly sedentary.

The quicker we learn we exist to perfect
that which pertains to soul: serve and love
Then the quicker we’ll come to understand, comprehend
there’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

* * *
Amazing Almighty God, our highest gratitude
might be for the patience You show
or perhaps for the Mercy and Love You fore gave
in the provision, abundance, the Reap and the Sow.
Amen

~ There’s A Job To Be Done ~

“There’s a job to be done!” I was close once before
when I wrote about life after death
Then I glimpsed once again through life’s door
and understood anew, the other side of breath.

There’s that ‘slip of a moment’ ‘tween breaths in and out
in which eons of lives have propelled
the soul to knowing what perfection’s about
until finally t’ward divinity he’s compelled.

The end of each life e’er before bore no merit
not knowing the path he was on
The Law of Cause and Effect would help his soul ferret
and pour light upon his soul before another chance gone.

Now meriting high knowledge, in sincere service he now dwells
looking forward to the bliss that ‘slip’ brings with the One
Now conscious effort unbroken, as life to life he propels
knowing ‘in the heavens as on earth,’ “There’s a job to be done!”

I listen to others speak of death and their belief that ‘when you die, you just die.’   Now honestly, can you contemplate the entire cosmos system and then still perceive our lives are sloughed off this earth as slightly as a dead cell off our body? It would seem a waste of God’s time – and I believe that perception of death is an insult to Him, if He were of such a small mind as to let that bother Him –  to create such treasured creatures only to struggle their lifetime with emotions, efforts, confusion, and delusion. It speaks of a cruel and manipulative God, giving credence to those whose minds are already convinced of it. Our spiritual growth, our spiritual evolution, requires we stop to deeply contemplate or meditate our intended existence and so to comprehend the eternity, the power, the manifold magnificence of what He has truly set into place for us . . . great as was the sacrifice of Jesus, it is but a drop in the bucket of what He has placed for autonomic rule on this and the entire cosmos.  Don’t be afraid to believe even more deeply!  Be of good courage and not fearful to let your soul guide you into greater knowledge and relationship with God. As my weekly haiku says: “Subtle perceptions bring great transformation.”
